There Snow News

December 3rd, 2008

Boing! Boing! Boing! Hello, here is the something o'clock news. England has come to a stand-still again due to the half inch of snow that has fallen in the last 24 hours!

Heh? Am I missing something? Isn't it coming to something when the weather makes the headlines? Now I admit, I do not like being cold but being one of the lucky people born in better climates, I feel short changed by the English winter. I mean I grew up reading Enid Blyton and the like books with mentions of snowmen and ice skating, so much of it that you could go ice skating outside on the canals! In all of my 20 years, not a chance. If we have had over a month's worth of 'real' snow in those years (in the Midlands at least), I would eat my hat! I mean there are English born and bred kids who have not experienced these things! In fact, we have got so used to not having snow that the whole country grinds to a halt with the first sign of a flurry. Wow! And not only that, you watch this chaos on TV, every year for a couple of days! Wow!

Tell me that we are not living in a comfortable society? Even with the recession!
